Worthless Piece of Dung
          By Tennessee Elijah

Men, women, boys and girls of all nations
are equally bad -- and equally good!
There is no intelligent way to gauge which one of us is better or worse.
The success of one person can be the failure of another; the pride of one who believes that they are worthy of honor can be the shame of others who have chosen to live differently. In the minds of family members, friends or strangers, we might be valued like diamonds -- or thought of as nothing better than dung. How many of us who live on this planet deserve to
be praised or insulted? How many of us are sinners or saints?

Without God, we are nothing,
and will always be nothing!
In the epistle of Paul, the apostle to the Ephesians, chapter 2, we read in verses 1, 2 & 3: "AND you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had
our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children
of wrath, even as others."

In our quest to fulfill earthly destinies, is there any good to be gained from conforming ourselves to those who do evil? Our focus on the things of Life each day should be to escape out of this quagmire of broken promises, strife and confusion. The
"Kingdom of God on Earth" for us should be thought
of as purity of Spirit, not gluttony, greed, anger or war. We should value simplicity, cleanliness, tranquility, moderation, unselfishness, acceptance of others, forgiveness and love for those who oppose us. There is nothing good to be found in aggressive, competitive exploits designed to gain excessive possessions. We should not desire monetary or political power for the purpose of forcing others into lifestyles not of their choosing.

Human life is worthy of shame until we repent of sin!
We read in verses
4, 5, 6 & 7:
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace we are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages
to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus."

People on Earth have been taught many contrary ways to think and live. Some choose to spend their time, energy and talent in the hope of sustaining a modest lifestyle -- while others seek riches. Some prefer creativity and productivity -- while others prefer imitation and destruction.

Who are we, and why do we do what we do? It matters not at all if we spend most of our lives in poverty or obscurity rather than attaining wealth and fame! It matters not if we did worse things than Hitler, Stalin or Saddam -- or live a respectible life like Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Mother Teresa or Pope John Paul II before God transforms us! We read in verses 8, 9 & 10: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

On this planet where humankind prepares for eternity, we have many philosophies and religions. Some of us are fools and some of us are wise;
some of us believe Truth and some believe lies.

Each one of us is an outcast who is often despised by self-righteous hypocrites who think themselves to be holy. We are all outsiders who will be denied entrance to earthly religious sanctuaries when we fail to practice inferior manmade traditions. The doorway between Heaven and Earth is not found in these many buildings made of wood, stone, brick or mortar, but the entry into God's Domain is spiritual in nature; It is not a password or a custom, but it is Jesus who is the door through which we must pass! We read in verses 11, 12 & 13: "Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision
by that which is called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes
were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ."

Are you better than other people?
Are you admired for your physical attributes, respected for your career accomplishments, considered superior because of accumulated
wealth, and highly esteemed by your peers due to contributions made to society? Are you proud of yourself and satisfied with accomplishments in life?

Speaking for myself in a way that only God will understand, Satan once
had control over my thoughts, desires and emotions. My life as a "man in
the flesh" without hope was nothing more than bubbles in a dirty cesspool -- until God reached down to rescue me out of my own ignorance!

We read in verses 14, 15, 16 & 17:
"For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh."

You and I are not together physically,
but we can be together in Spirit!
As a Christian, I am no longer separated from my friends on Earth or
in Heaven as I strive to be obedient to the ways of God! My contentment has been found in Christ -- not in the things of this world! We read in verse 18:
"For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father."

Are you a part of the Body of Christ?

Like all righteous saints who are redeemed followers of Christ, this biological vessel, this human body, this worthless piece of dung has miraculously become a dwelling place of God! We read in verses 19, 20, 21 & 22:
"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through Spirit."

Remember, let's try not to be thinking too highly of ourselves! Pride is not good! We read in
Philippians, chapter 3, verses 7-11: "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung (shit), that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through
the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead."

Let's flush the body away with the waste of life
when the
Spirit comes to make the soul shine!
